No.1 choice to rideReview by Pash
In summary, a very comfortable ride, feels very light and handles superbly. Well done Dolan. A boring diatribe follows - I'm lucky enough to have a stack of bikes to choose from to ride when I get the time, a couple made from 531c, one made from 725, a couple of 6000 series aluminium framed bikes and a titanium framed one. What I lacked was something that could take mudguards, for use on bright days with wet roads. I saw a Dual in the bike sheds at work and liked the look but had never ridden a carbon bike so didn't know if the ride was going to be harsh like my aluminium framed bikes, or very compliant like the 531 framed bikes, nevertheless I chose to take the risk. The frame arrived with a good selection of bits. The seatpin was of good quality and as the headset is direct fit, the only Alpine branded parts are the collar and associated external bits. I fitted some ten speed Campag parts and some SKS Bluemels mudguards and proceeded to get the miles in... The ride is as good if not better than my 531 frames bikes, which have always been the benchmark. The bike corners fantastically. The bike feels very light (although with the mudguards etc. it probably isn't so light). My only complaint is that it can't take 28mm tyres, it has 25s fitted. If I could influence the design, it would be to fit deep drop calipers and allow bigger tyres. (Posted on 19/10/2017)
Great framesetReview by Stephen
I purchased this frame-set in black, a few weeks ago. I had it finished with tiagra 4700 and some nice Shimano rs81 wheels I had in the garage. I've ridden this bike long enough now to comment. It's a dream to ride. Effortlessly climbs, descends like a demon and fairly romps along on the flat - just how any good carbon frame should. I thoroughly recommend it as a training bike - if you wanted to race on it, it wouldn't be the bike holding you back...

... You may find that your brakes (especially shimano 105 5800) are a bit close to the edge of the rim of your wheels, but that depends on the brand - I have fulcrum wheels, which are fine. The Shimano RS81 are a bit tight on the back. Perhaps some deep drop calipers may be required but at least there's plenty of room for mudguards. This would make the dual an ideal Winter trainer, or just your best/only bike. Get one! Buy British!! (Posted on 21/03/2017)
A proper bike!!Review by The old Man of Kent
Well i have been riding , repairing and building bikes for over 40 years searching for the bike that you swing a leg over knowing it can cope with just about anything and do you know what, this bike for us mere mortals is nigh on perfect. Its stiff, fast, forgiving ,climbs well, but most of all just a joy to ride. I have been lucky enough to ride high end bikes made of the black stuff ,wonderful steel tubing ,titanium and alloy but what Mr Dolan has created here is a frameset that fuses all the good things and none of the downsides resulting in my opinion the best bike for just enjoying the freedom of cycling whatever the distance from commuting to the long haul. There are an awful lot of people out there riding the wrong bike for the right reasons, do yourself a favour and buy this bike and you will understand what i am talking about. True master of all tradesReview by James
I thought it was time I wrote a review here.

I’ve had my Dual for 9 months now, in which I have covered approximately 2500 miles. I had mine built with SRAM rival compact group, 11-26 cassette, Mavic Ksyrium wheels and run with 23c GP4000 tyres. I’ve commuted daily to work with this bike through rain, wind and shine, completed the Whitehaven to Tynemouth coast to coast (did Penrith to Stanhope in 3h28m!) and it has taken every mile in its stride, from the potholed London streets to cycle route 14 near Consett, which is more like a trials course! The reinforced frame is tough enough to cope with everything I’ve thrown at it. If you wanted to fit a rack I’d be confident the stays could take the stress of any sensible load! (Bontrager rack that uses the caliper mount as front pickup)

A note to the handling; running on the Kyserium wheels and GP4000 tyres this bike handles better than anything else I’ve ever ridden – likely due to the reinforced seat and chainstays. You always feel so in control you have the confidence to take on fast descents and winding lanes that will upset less capable so-called race machines. I’ve had it up to almost 50mph and it’s stable as a rock. It rolls fast too. You really can use it for sportives and run with the pack.

This is truly and without any doubt the best all-round road bike money can buy. It may be a kilo heavier than a pure race machine, but that added weight gives it the durability to make it practical to use every day, and if like me you only have space for one bike, this is the one to own.

What more can I say. Buy this bike!

Top BikeReview by James
Bought the frame set and built with Shimano Ultegra, 3T finishing kit and some decent wheels. It is very responsive with great acceleration. The geometry is quite racy but it is also the most comfortable bike I have ridden. If I had only one bike to ride through the winter and still keep up with the best in the summer, this would be the one. Had some top quality advice from Dolan Bikes on sizing too. A lot more bike for your buckReview by Alan
I am quite new to cycling and eventually decided on a Dolan Dual Apex as my first new road bike. This bike may not look as out and out race as some with it's mudguards, but I have past some bikes regarded by most as performance bikes. It's a pleasure to ride, climbs hills well, handles great and is certainly no slouch. A lot more bike for your £ than others I was looking at in my local bike shops. (Posted on 28/01/2014)
